JAMES D. RUCHTI
James D. Ruchti was born in Pocatello, Idaho and admitted to practice law in Idaho in 2001. He is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York (B.S., 1993). Upon graduation from West Point, he was commissioned as a Military Intelligence Officer in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1998 as a Captain having served in Germany, Arizona, Georgia and Kuwait.
He received his legal education at the University of Idaho (J.D., 2001), where he was part of a two-person team that won the Conrad B. Duberstein National Moot Court Competition in New York City. Following graduation from law school, he served for one year as a law clerk to the Honorable B. Lynn Winmill, United States District Judge for the District of Idaho. He is a member of the Idaho State Bar and Portneuf Inns of Court. His practice areas include insurance defense, commercial litigation, personal injury and employment law.
James is a member of the Idaho State House of Representatives and serves on the Transportation and Defense Committee, the Revenue and Taxation Committee and the Judicial Rules Committee. He has also served as the Chair of the Bannock County Democrats.
James and his wife Wendy have two sons, Spencer and Drew. They like to spend time outdoors. They keep busy with Starbent, Spencer and Drew's rock band, and the Pocatello Lacrosse Club.
